Abstract

One micronutrient that is believed to be crucial for plants is zinc (Zn). It is regarded as a crucial micronutrient for plants as well. Zinc is essential to plant biochemistry and metabolism due to its significance and toxicity for biological systems at certain Zn concentrations, which may be harmful above an optimal range. This may be attributed to the presence of the element zinc in plants. Zn deficiency seems to be a widespread issue that crops face worldwide, resulting in large production losses that compromise the crops' nutritional value. The most effective approach is enhancing the root system's architecture, organic acids' ability to absorb zinc complexes, and plants' mechanisms for uptaking and translocation of zinc. In light of this, increasing Zn utilisation efficiency is the most practical course of action. This article's goal is to provide a summary of the many biotechnological techniques that may be used to boost zinc utilisation efficiency and guarantee crop quality. Due to the current circumstances, an effort has been made to learn more about the signs of zinc poisoning and inadequacy that plants experience from zinc. The current analysis clarifies the ways by which zinc functions as a biostimulator and provides a brief overview of nanotechnology's involvement in plant zinc absorption.
